Key Differences Between iPhone 3G and 3GS

Apple iPhones have been the most talked about gadgets since their launch and with every new upgrade, the market and customers also go in a frenzy, with everybody trying to better their equipment. The new 3Gs had entered the market recently, kicking off comparisons between the 3G and the 3Gs. If we go by the looks alone, there is not much of a difference. Apple has stuck to the look of the iphone series, without much changes.

The company says that the ‘S’ in 3Gs is for speed. The speed is indeed pretty good with this new phone in comparison to the previous one. The 3Gs is equipped with a 600Mhz ARM processor which is far superior than the 412Mhz processor of the 3G phone. This additional ARM processing power makes the use of applications much more easer and lag free as reported earlier. The 3G can only reach up to a maximum speed of 3.6 mbps, which seem quite a fade in comparison to the 7.2 mbps output of the new 3Gs, offered by the HSDPA technology. So if you are residing close to an HSDPA area, you are in for super fast blazing internet connection. The camera also has seen a good upgrade from the 2.0 megapixel camera of 3G to the new improved video recording 3.0 megapixel camera of 3Gs. Also the radio has been improved in the newer version.
The best part has been the software support additions by Apple. The 3Gs can support the OpenGL ES 2.0 while the 3G can only support 1.1, which means that the application developers have an edge as the phone can now draw better images in comparison to the previous version that supported only the 1.1. Other features that have been added include, voice control function that lets you control your iPhone with voice instructions and an application that enables the use of the iPhone as a compass, in case you lose direction. The compass application is supported by an embedded magnetic compass.
Clearly, the 3Gs wins this war of differences and comparison
